Modern Marimba is partnering with Westcoast Black Theater to present the Jalen Baker Quartet on the WBTT Mainstage for the first time! This is Jalen Baker’s second appearance in Sarasota with his quartet – Paul Cornish on piano, Gabe Godoy on bass, and Gavin Moolchan on drums.

Jalen Baker is a vibraphonist, percussionist, educator, and composer whose early
training involved both classical and jazz genres. His second album “Be Still” was
released in July 2023 to rave reviews.

About the Album:

“Be Still” is an album about reflection and new beginnings. So many things in my life have changed over the last few years, and I wanted this album to feature music that represented my growth as a human as well as some songs that inspired me at the beginning of my musical journey (Body & Soul, Jinrikisha).

Each chapter of someone’s life can be traced back to a few key moments, and I’m very grateful that I had the opportunity to document this chapter with music that’s very close to my heart and with people that truly inspire me.
