Modern Marimba’s season opener starts with a free, outdoor, socially-distanced concert in Sarasota’s beautiful Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park in partnership with The Newtown Nation. This music explores and addresses how oppression affects us when police brutality of Black and unarmed Black Americans continues to the present day. Teaching artist and host of Mr. Stevey Meditates, Stevey Jones, will lead guided meditations between the music to help listeners create a compassionate and calm space for difficult conversations.
