Underwriting is a non-commercial acknowledgment of the following:
- individual support
- businesses or non-profit organizations
Becoming an underwriter is good for everyone! This action helps our community promote equity through a sustainable arts ecosystem.
Things to consider:
- Support of small arts organizations has a direct positive influence on the audience’s decision to use your products or services. When you or your business gives financial support to Modern Marimba, you are helping our local community.
- You may target the placement of your spoken spots to specific events.
- Underwriting with Modern Marimba is tax-deductible. By supporting Modern Marimba, a 501(c)(3) organization, you are making a statement about you, your business/organization, other businesses/organizations, and how it fits into our community.
Guidelines
Modern Marimba is a 501(c)(3) organization, and therefore, we must adhere to FCC guidelines for permissible underwriting acknowledgments. FCC rules do not permit calls to action; inducements to buy, sell, or lease; opinions or views; price information; promotions; comparative or qualitative verbiage; or support or opposition to any political candidate.
Your acknowledgment may include no more than 25 words describing the type of business and its location or address, telephone number, web address, brand or trade name of the product or service, value-neutral description of the product or service, historical information, a logogram, or non-promotional slogan. Modern Marimba can create or suggest an acknowledgment for you – just ask.
- All underwriting must be prepaid, and every block of underwriting acknowledgments purchased must be used within one season (our season ends every August 31st).
- Underwriting acknowledgments begin with “Programming of Modern Marimba is supported by our audiences, as well as by:” Following this phrase, underwriters may provide text up to 25 words long. MODMA reserves the right to edit content to fit FCC guidelines. We are happy to work with you on the content of your announcement.
- A maximum of one underwriting acknowledgment per event can be purchased.
