At Modern Marimba, we believe that music is more than entertainment—it’s a space for dialogue, discovery, and deep listening. Our adult programs invite curious minds and open hearts to explore the intersections of sound, culture, and society through:

• Hybrid Performances that blend live music with insight, offering historical and cultural context to enhance your listening experience.
• Conferences & Forums that convene artists, scholars, and community members for rich conversations around art, identity, equity, and justice.
• Special Events for your employees or communities that challenge conventional boundaries and invite reflection beyond the binary narratives of the world.
• Private Group Lessons, perfect for families, friends, work groups, and retirees who want to learn together. Modern Marimba partners with Sarasota Music Conservatory, located in the heart of the City of Sarasota.

Youth Programs

• Schedule a Performance with Modern Marimba! Reach out to schedule a performance—available both in person and virtually. Our exceptional teaching artists are ready to share music with your students in schools or online through Zoom. Best of all, these performances can be offered at no cost to you, thanks to grant funding from the Music Performance Trust Fund, which we will apply for on your behalf.

• Need a little financial help to attend a music festival, get new mallets, or fill up your tank to make it to lessons? We’ve got you covered! Apply for a Modern Marimba Micro Grant and get the support you need to keep making music.

• Need an instrument to practice on? Modern Marimba, in partnership with Sarasota Music Conservatory, located in the heart of the City of Sarasota, gives students access to a beautiful 4.3 Adams rosewood marimba. We also have a 5.0 octave M1 Izzy marimba and a Musser M55G vibraphone available for students preparing for performances, school auditions, or competitions.

• Private and Group Lessons. In partnership with the Sarasota Music Conservatory, Modern Marimba offers both in-person and virtual private lessons for people of all ages. New students can enjoy a complimentary 30-minute trial lesson to get started in person and virtually. We also offer small group lessons, perfect for families who want to learn together. Sliding scale rates and scholarships are available to make music education accessible to everyone.

• Request a Care Package! At Modern Marimba, we know that access to quality music materials isn’t always easy. That’s why we’re happy to send a care package directly to your school. Each package may include mallets, sheet music, and practical teaching resources designed to support your creativity and confidence. Whenever possible, we also add small items of encouragement—because every student deserves to feel seen, supported, and inspired in their music-making journey.

Sharing songs and stories from your own traditions—and discovering others’—creates experiences that are far more meaningful than simply picking from a school list.
